Pushing boundaries again

So Monday night I had Ethiopian food for the first time ever. I know, I know. I live in a city with a huge African immigrant population and a dozen Ethiopian places and I've never had it. And yes, there was a boy involved. We went to this place in Uptown neighborhood and it was really good. He's a vegetarian, so we shared one of the big vegetarian platters.

I have to say, at first, it looked like an artists palate of different varieties of baby poop (below).

It comes with this spongy bread that you use to scoop up the different stews. Once you get over the consistency (I have consistency issues - but I guess after this, I'll have to give refried beans another go), it's really quite tasty. The spices and vegetables used are very good.

And no, I won't go into any details about the boy quite yet. We'll just say he could be a keeper, but we'll see.

I keep trying refried beans to see if my consistency issues have gone away, and to this day the answer is a clear 'no.'
my family likes them too, it's difficult to have a taco night here without my complaining.

well, you would NOT enjoy ethiopian food then. There was one dish I was afraid of that looked like the split pea soup puke from the exorcist. Other than that one, I liked them.

Thanks for making the baby poop comment so I didn't have to. ;)

A boy? Hmmm....

There's a decent Ethiopian place in Tempe near ASU that I've been to a couple of times. We had the same type of stuff ... baby poop and spongey bread. Cafe Lalibela. Good stuff.

And we're intrigued about the "boy". Do tell.

I am too - but it's a little to early to start talkin' about it here.

I should point out that I'm using the word "boy" playfully. He is, in fact, my age... I'm not robbing cradles or anything.

Well, that takes all the fun out of it. Just kidding.

Glad you had a good time.
