Slacking...

I've been sucked into the Facebook vortex and also haven't had anything I really wanted to blog about lately. I am going to probably have something to say about Caster Semenya, the South African runner and how our binary way of thinking about sex and gender is just simply not realistic.

It explains why the Bloggosphere is a bit quiet - everyone has migrated to Facebook... except for me... [laughs]

I'm with you on the Semenya thing and have said the very same myself.

I feel your pain. I've been sucked into the Facebook and twitter vortex plus I'm now writing short little online environmental stories for an online news site.

My blog still has a point. It's where I will review anything I've read or watched, but I'm just way behind on reviewing movies. Plus, it's the only place I will write political stuff, but I just haven't been in the political mood lately. At least Laura is good about posting common stuff on both her blog and Facebook. I usually post on one or the other.

I want to review Food, Inc. on my blog, but I'm just in the middle of the book In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan. He was one of the guys in the movie. I'll write a combined review. I should be finishing the book today.

I try to post some things in both places, knowing that there are folks on Blogger who aren't on FB. But it's SOOOO much easier to post stuff on Facebook thanks to the little "Share on Facebook" button. But I also don't want this blog to just be random links to stuff I find interesting either. I want to have something to actually say.

Like you, I'm just so sick of bitching about politics. I need a break. I'm going to put some thoughts together about the South African runner and gender issues.

I like it when all of us write on our pet issues. You are fantastic with gender and education issues. CK with science, privacy and personal freedom issues. I like the environment and religious issues. You are all good with all subjects but you can tell the added bit of passion in those issues that are particular close to your heart.
